Solicitors for Tenants

In February 2019, new legislation came into effect that will impact the rights of tenants and their rental agreements, including the planned abolishment of some letting fees which will now be prohibited from June 2019. Any fees listed as permitted payments will still be payable by tenants, such as rent, deposits, bills and costs incurred from making changes to a tenancy agreement (or bringing it to an end).

However, caps may be introduced to some permitted payments which will make it more difficult for landlords and agents to charge more than is legally specified for holding deposits or changes made to your agreement. If you're a landlord view our solicitors for landlords page

The new bill makes attempts to increase tenants’ rights in the UK with regards specifically to fees and standards of living, but there are many reasons for which a dispute may arise between a tenant and their landlord. At Guillaumes LLP, our dedicated team of solicitors for tenants are experienced in providing support and representation for tenants in the UK who are involved in a dispute with their landlord, and our tenancy solicitors can provide support and advice in the following areas:

  • Tenancy agreements
  • Deposit protection and return

  • Health and safety
  • Fees and excessive charges
  • Disputes regarding property repairs
